Whether you choose to stay in our Lodge units, featuring private pools and spa baths or opt for a glamping experience right next to the Sabie River in our Luxury Tented Camp, you are sure to leave rejuvenated. Here you will make many happy memories – unique to a bush experience in the Sabie River Valley area. Located in the heart of Paradise Country as Mpumalanga is affectionately known, we are ideally situated for you to explore, adventure or simply relax to your heart’s desire.
Days can be spent exploring the natural wonders of the surrounding area, with many breathtaking waterfalls and panoramic view sites on our doorstep and the world Famous Kruger National Park, with its Phabeni Gate located only 20 minutes’ drive away. Unforgettable adventures can also be had nearby at Induna – by quad bike, river raft, zipline or horseback. You may however decide to simply spend your time unwinding at one of our pools and beach area beside the river or trying your hand at fishing and a friendly game of pool. We look forward to welcoming you into our tranquillity, serving you sumptuous meals overlooking the river rapids and lighting your campfires, around which you arrive a stranger and leave a friend.
LIONS ROCK RAPIDS LODGE
Lions Rock Rapids is a short 10 minute drive from the nearby town of Hazyview in Mpumalanga, and an approximate 4,5hrs drive from Johannesburg. The lodge is ideally located in close proximity to The Kruger National Park, with the closest entrance via Phabeni Gate – a 20 minute drive from the lodge. Other nearby attractions can include local restaurants in and around Hazyview, quad biking, river rafting, hot air ballooning, Cultural Village, Panorama Route and much more. Whilst spending time at the lodge, guests are encouraged to enjoy the prolific birdlife and take a stroll on the grounds. Immerse yourself in the wonder of the river rapids from our beach area or take a dip in your own private swimming pool and sit in the comfort of your room’s patio, absorbing the magnificent view of the Sabie River Valley.
Our accommodation offering at the Lodge is in the form of 2 Twin Suites, 2 King Suites, 2 Family Suites and 1 Deluxe Family Suite, accommodating up to 19 guests in total. All rooms feature an en-suite jacuzzi bathroom, tv, tea / coffee making facility, mini-safe, ceiling fans & heaters. We are a semi self-catering establishment and as such we offer built in barbecue facilities under a covered patio and a microwave in the suite. Our central guest facilities include a reception, restaurant as well as lounge and bar area, which is perfectly positioned, overlooking the river rapids. Enjoy a game of pool or simply unwind in our lounge and bar area or try your hand at fishing and tubing in the river.
LIONS ROCK RAPIDS CAMP
Lions Rock Rapids is situated on the banks of the iconic Sabie River, a quick 10 minute drive from the nearby town of Hazyview and an approximate 4,5hrs drive from Johannesburg. Whilst spending time with us, you can enjoy the prolific birdlife and take a stroll on the grounds. Immerse yourself in the wonder of the river rapids from our beach area and along the river banks or take a relaxing dip in the swimming pool. You may also opt to sit in the comfort of your tents’ covered deck, simply absorbing the magnificent view of the Sabie River Valley.
Situated in the heart of Paradise city, as Mpumalanga is affectionately known, we are ideally situated to explore The Kruger National Park, with its’ Phabeni gate being only a 20 minute drive away. Our luxury, air conditioned tents each comfortably accommodate two guests with ample space and feature an en-suite bathroom as well as a lovely covered deck overlooking the Sabie river to relax on. The tents are nestled between the Sabie River and the lush foliage of hundreds of macadamia trees, providing truly exceptional surroundings for an unforgettable experience. When joining us as a family, please enquire upon booking about the availability of an additional bed for younger children, alternatively you are welcome to bring your own camp cot along. Older children can be conveniently accommodated in an adjacent tent. All your delectable meals are served at our restaurant, which is a short walk from the tents and positioned alongside the river. Breakfast and dinner are included for our luxury tent guests and are a real highlight, with specific dietary needs always taken into account (please confirm when booking). Sundowners are enjoyed at our riverside bar where you can unwind, sample some of our famous South African wines or even dance a jig. Come dusk and you will hear the distinct crackle of the nightly campfire from our open air Boma, a favourite spot for guests to sit back and take in the wonder of what we like to call our “Bush Tv”.
ACTIVITIES ON OFFER
For our adventure seekers, the surrounding area offers many exciting activities. These include Game Drives, River Rafting, Quad Biking, beautiful Elephant interactions, Horse Riding and many more. These can all be arranged for you as an added extra by our staff. Outside of these “paid for” activities, we would like to remind our guests of all the natural wonders that you can immerse yourself in, leaving you with an even deeper appreciation for all that is Africa.
Among these natural wonders are at least 10 magnificent waterfalls to take in, many other exhilarating hiking and mountain biking trails and of course, the world famous “God’s Window”, which really is a must see for your bucket list.
