As a child Melanie Maritz always had a dream of one day helping animals in need.
On the 12th of November 2017 a warthog was brought to Melanie by a friend. He was abandoned by his mom. He was small and on the brink of death. He had a slim chance of surviving, but with 24/7 care and patience from Melanie and Her Husband Hennie, he survived. Knowing that he will need a place to stay, Melanie and Hennie purchased a piece of land, knowing that he would not survive on his own in the wild.
This is how the idea of Pumbaa Wildlife Park started. With one little piggy.
Today Pumbaa is living the good life at the Park together with his warthog Family, Dolores, Timone and Nala, that came from the same background.
